PORTFOLIO — WEB LOCALIZATION FOR CHINA (TRADITIONAL)
Traditional Chinese (Taiwan / Hong Kong) is a different market from Simplified — different script, different conventions. A perfect translation can still read as foreign. Below is the same skincare page in three states. The content never changes; only the design does.
“A Chinese font that’s just inherited from your English one isn’t a small thing — it’s a signature. It means no one who reads your customers’ language ever touched your site. And if the type is foreign, the design is too — they come from the same knowledge.”
The English site — clean, considered, built for a Western audience.

Traditional Chinese poured into the same design. The type is inherited and the layout offers none of the density or trust cues Taiwan/HK buyers expect. This is what “just translate it” actually ships.

Rebuilt to Traditional-market conventions — same content, native structure: denser rhythm, ★ ratings + member CTA, and type set in Noto Sans TC. (Traditional is a different market from Simplified, set with its own typeface.)

SIMPLIFIED ≠ TRADITIONAL
Taiwan and Hong Kong read Traditional characters, set in a Traditional typeface (Noto Sans TC) with their own spacing — and their own trust and shopping conventions. Localizing for Traditional is its own design pass, not a character swap from Simplified.
